Money
Latvia’s currency is lats (lati in plural). One lats is divided into 100 santimi. For exchange rates, see www.bank.lv. One euro is about 0.54 Latis. US dollar is about 0.61 Latis. There are 24-hour exchange bureaus at Basteja 12 and 14, between the Old Town and a park. Also Brivibas 30. Rates in exchange offices may vary 10-15 %, so choose your exchange office carefully!
Visa regulations
Visa is not required from the EU citizens. Also Iceland, Norway, Slovakia, Poland, Japan, Switzerland and the USA citizens do not need a visa. For further information, see Latvia’s foreign minister site www.mfa.gov.lv
